These guidelines outline the standards and requirements for all sponsored content published on Wander Somewhere. They are designed to ensure that collaborations align with our brand values, maintain editorial integrity, deliver genuine value to our audience, and comply with relevant advertising and disclosure regulations.

1. Brand Positioning

Wander Somewhere is a trusted travel resource specialising in high-quality, authentic experiences across Scotland and beyond. Our audience consists primarily of discerning travellers who value:

  • Boutique, curated travel recommendations.

  • Genuine local insight and storytelling.

  • Practical, well-researched advice.

All sponsored content must:

  • Reflect our warm, engaging, and professional voice.

  • Provide tangible value to the reader.

  • Align with our ethos of slow, immersive, and responsible travel.

2. Editorial Standards

  • Tone: Warm, informative, professional — no sensationalist language, clickbait, or profanity.

  • Accuracy: All information must be fact-checked and up-to-date at the time of submission.

  • SEO: Best SEO practices should be applied, but keyword stuffing is not acceptable.

  • Style: Submissions may be lightly edited to ensure alignment with Wander Somewhere’s style and readability standards.

3. Content Scope

We only accept sponsored content that falls within the travel sphere, including but not limited to:

  • Destinations (Scotland or worldwide).

  • Experiences and activities.

  • Eateries and local food.

  • Accommodation and transport.

We do not accept topics that are unrelated to travel or do not align with our audience’s interests.

4. Disclosure & Ethics

  • All sponsored content will be clearly marked as “sponsored” or “in partnership with” in line with ASA and FTC disclosure requirements.

  • All claims must be accurate and supported by reputable sources where applicable.

  • Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed to Wander Somewhere prior to submission.

5. Link Policy

  • Sponsored links are permitted on a case-by-case basis and will be designated as follow or no-follow at Wander Somewhere’s discretion.

  • Each sponsored post must include:

    • One link to your chosen brand URL.

    • One internal link to a relevant Wander Somewhere article.

    • One external link to an authoritative, relevant source.

  • Links must be contextually relevant and must not redirect to unrelated, low-quality, or blacklisted domains.

6. Exclusivity & Originality

  • All sponsored content must be exclusive to Wander Somewhere and must not appear in the same or substantially similar form on any other website.

  • Plagiarism or duplicate content will result in immediate rejection.

7. Formatting & Submission Requirements

  • Length: No strict word count, but content must be substantial and helpful. Thin or purely promotional copy will be rejected.

  • Structure: Well-organised with clear headings and logical flow.

  • Links: Embedded naturally within the body text, not in a “link dump” at the end.

  • Imagery:

    • Images must be supplied in compressed, web-ready format and clearly named.

    • Advertiser must hold rights or provide explicit permission for use.

8. Collaboration Process

  1. Content is submitted for initial review.

  2. We may suggest edits to ensure the piece meets our editorial standards - we will clearly communicate this with you in advance.

  3. Once accepted, the post is published and shared with the advertiser for review.

  4. Advertisers must respond with approval or required changes within 24 hours.

  5. If no response is received, the post may be temporarily unpublished until approval is confirmed.

  6. Approved posts are submitted to Google indexing immediately.

9. Amendments Post-Publication

  • Any changes requested after final approval will incur a £25 amendment fee.

  • Wander Somewhere reserves the right to refuse amendments that conflict with our brand standards or legal obligations.

10. Non-Negotiables

We do not accept or promote content that relates to:

  • Gambling or betting services.

  • Adult content (including nudity or pornography).

  • Political campaigns or politically sensitive issues.

  • Sensationalist, misleading, or unsafe products/services.

11. Payment Terms

  • Sponsored posts are published immediately upon acceptance.

  • Invoices must be settled within 48 hours of issue.

  • Payment options:

    • BACs bank transfer (UK accounts)

    • PayPal (advertiser is responsible for all associated fees)

12. Additional Notes

  • Wander Somewhere displays third-party advertising across the site. These may appear alongside sponsored posts.

  • All sponsored collaborations are accepted at our discretion and subject to these guidelines.
