Personal advice

Between us, we’ve road-tripped, hiked, toured, driven, and holidayed all over Scotland. That means your itinerary is built on genuine local knowledge - we’ve driven the roads, visited the castles, sampled the distilleries, and stayed in the places we suggest. Unlike faceless tour operators, our advice is personal, practical, and rooted in experience.

Tailored trips

We also understand how overwhelming planning a Scotland trip can feel. There’s so much to see, so many routes to consider, and limited time to get it right!

Our role is to simplify the process, make booking easy, and design a journey that creates a lifetime of memories. And we take the time to understand how you like to travel and shape each itinerary personally for you.

FAQs

  • Our itineraries are designed for self-drive travel - the best and most flexible way to explore Scotland’s remote landscapes, islands, and hidden corners.

We also include recommendations for day tours, local experiences, and private drivers where appropriate.

However, we don’t plan trips based around public transport or open group tours, as these options are often limited, unpredictable, and make it difficult to design the level of seamless, curated experience our travellers expect.

If you’re unsure whether a self-drive trip is right for you, feel free to contact us before booking to discuss what’s possible.

  • We can provide a curated list of car rentals, recommended accommodation providers and stays, tours, activities, and experiences to suit your style and budget.

But you’ll make the bookings directly (unless previously agreed).

Don’t worry, we will supply a list of bookable links for all recommended stays, activities, etc.

We do not advise on flights.

  • Every package includes one round of complimentary revisions once you’ve reviewed your initial proposal. We want your itinerary to feel right for you — whether that means adjusting pacing, adding an experience, or swapping accommodation.

  • If you’ve booked our accommodation research service, we’ll handle hotel research, availability checks, and provide a curated list of recommended stays to suit your style and budget - alongside all direct links (using Booking.com or equivalent platform).

But you’ll make the bookings directly.

Note that we do not recommend Airbnb’s, but we do have trusted cottage rentals we work with.

Sadly we cannot help me accommodation for large groups.

  • Yes — we regularly design extended or more complex itineraries, including multi-region routes, themed trips, and group travel. These often involve more coordination, logistics, and custom research, so an additional fee may apply.

    Examples of complex trips include:

    • Multi-activity adventures (e.g. hiking, kayaking, and wildlife trips)

    • Activity-specific itineraries such as extended hiking routes or whisky tours

    • Elopements or special occasions requiring bespoke arrangements

    • Group or multi-family travel

    • Multi-week road trips covering several regions of Scotland

If your trip falls into one of these categories, we’ll discuss any additional costs before confirming your booking, ensuring full transparency from the start.

  • As far in advance as possible. Scotland’s best hotels, restaurants, and tours book up quickly, especially in high season. If your travel dates are short notice, we’ll always do our best to help — but options may be more limited.

  • All itinerary services are non-refundable, so we strongly recommend having adequate travel insurance that covers cancellation for any reason. Once we begin planning, your itinerary involves significant time, research, and partner coordination, which is why we can’t offer refunds. If you need to postpone, we’ll always do our best to accommodate a new date where possible.

  • The Route & Itinerary Planning package gives you a curated Scotland route and personalised recommendations for things to see, do, visit, and places to eat along that route. It is split morning through evening, and completely custom to you.

You also have the option of a pre-departure call, ongoing support on the lead up to your trip, and we’re happy to be flexible on how we chat!

We’ll set up a private portal for you, and in that you’ll have access to your itinerary, maps, our travel toolkit, and any other trip essentials.

  • Yes, we plan bespoke itineraries or help research accommodation for couples, families, and small groups, typically up to two couples or two families travelling together.

Please note you’ll be responsible for securing and booking rooms based on our recommendations.

Sadly we cannot help me accommodation for large groups.

Group itineraries may also involve additional coordination and research, which could incur a small supplementary fee.

  • No — we do not offer refunds, and we do not provide payment plans. Once planning begins, your itinerary involves significant research, partner coordination, and bespoke arrangements, which is why full payment is required upfront and cannot be refunded.

We will not start work until payment has been received. This ensures that your itinerary is prioritised and we can commit fully to crafting your bespoke plan.

For full details, please see our Terms & Conditions.

If you have any questions or concerns before booking, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re happy to talk through your trip and make sure our services are the right fit for you.
