FAQs

  • Our itineraries are designed for self-drive travel — the best and most flexible way to explore Scotland’s remote landscapes, islands, and hidden corners. We also include recommendations for day tours, local experiences, and private drivers where appropriate.

However, we don’t plan trips based around public transport or open group tours, as these options are often limited, unpredictable, and make it difficult to design the level of seamless, curated experience our travellers expect. If you’re unsure whether a self-drive trip is right for you, feel free to contact us before booking to discuss what’s possible.

  • Yes — if you choose our Full Service Itinerary, we’ll handle hotel research, availability checks, and bookings on your behalf. For Route Planning, we’ll provide a curated list of recommended stays to suit your style and budget, but you’ll make the bookings directly. Our Finishing Touches service offers suggestions only, perfect if you’ve already booked but want to refine your trip.

Where we book accommodation, we do so on your behalf as the traveller. This means you’ll be the named guest, and any amendments, cancellations, or future correspondence will be handled directly between you and the accommodation provider. We’ll ensure everything is confirmed correctly at the time of booking and provide full documentation for your records.

Note that we do not book Airbnb but we do work with a number of highly rated cottage stays.

  • We handle hotel and tour bookings, dining reservations, and activity confirmations on your behalf (via secure online payment links so you stay in control). We don’t book flights or car rentals, but we’ll provide guidance on routes, suppliers, and timings to make arranging these simple.

  • Yes. Every package includes one round of complimentary revisions after you’ve reviewed your proposal. We want your itinerary to feel right for you — whether that means adjusting pacing, adding an experience, or swapping accommodation.

  • We recommend enquiring at least 8–12 weeks before your trip, or earlier if you’re travelling in summer OR visiting the Isle of Skye.

Scotland’s best hotels, restaurants, and tours book up quickly in peak months. For complex or multi-week itineraries, we suggest getting in touch 12–16 weeks in advance to secure preferred availability.

  • Yes — we plan bespoke trips for couples, families, and small groups, typically up to two couples or two families travelling together. Both Route Planning and Full Service Itinerary packages are suitable for these groups.

Please note that for groups staying in multiple rooms, we do not book accommodation directly — you’ll be responsible for securing rooms based on our recommendations.

Group itineraries may also involve additional coordination and research, which could incur a small supplementary fee.

  • Yes — we regularly design extended or more complex itineraries, including multi-region routes, themed journeys, activity-specific trips, and group travel. These often require additional research and coordination, so an extra fee may apply.

    Examples of complex trips include:

    • Multi-activity adventures (e.g., hiking, kayaking, and wildlife tours)

    • Activity-specific itineraries such as extended hiking routes or whisky tours

    • Elopements or special occasions requiring bespoke arrangements

    • Group or multi-family travel — note that for groups, accommodation is not booked on your behalf (see Do you plan for families or groups?)

    • Multi-week road trips covering several regions of Scotland

We’ll always confirm any additional costs upfront so there are no surprises.

  • Turnaround times vary depending on your chosen service:

    • Finishing Touches: approximately 1 week

    • Route Planning: typically 1–2 weeks

    • Full Service Itinerary: usually 2–3 weeks, depending on trip complexity

We’ll confirm your expected delivery date at the time of booking and keep you updated throughout the process.

  • All services must be paid in full before planning begins. You’ll receive an invoice via a secure payment link. If your service includes bookings, we’ll request approval before any payments are made on your behalf, and all hotel or tour costs are processed through your client portal.

  • No — we do not offer refunds or payment plans. Once planning begins, your itinerary involves significant research, partner coordination, and bespoke arrangements, which is why full payment is required upfront and cannot be refunded.

We will not start work until payment has been received. This ensures your itinerary is prioritised and carefully managed from the outset.

Please review our Terms & Conditions for full details, and if you have any concerns before booking, feel free to contact us via the enquiry form to discuss your trip.

  • All itinerary services are non-refundable, so please ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance that covers cancellation for any reason. If you need to postpone, we’ll always do our best to accommodate a new itinerary where possible.

  • We operate Monday to Friday and aim to respond to emails within 24–48 hours during business hours. Clear communication keeps your itinerary moving smoothly, so we ask clients to respond to proposals and key questions within two weeks.

If we don’t hear back within that time, your itinerary may be considered complete, and an admin fee may apply to restart the process. Full details can be found in our Terms & Conditions.

  • The Route Planning package gives you a curated Scotland route and insider recommendations — you make your own bookings and shape the trip as you go.

The Full Service Itinerary is a concierge-style experience where we handle your bookings, logistics, and reservations. Both are fully tailored; the difference lies in how hands-on you’d like us to be.
