About Wander Somewhere Scotland

“Thoughtful travel planning, curated itineraries, and private tours — designed for travellers who want culturally rich, immersive trips around Scotland, the very best places to stay, eat, and visit, and spectacular landscapes.”

About Lesley, founder and itinerary planner

Hello! I’m Lesley, the founder of Wander Somewhere Scotland and a lifelong Scotland enthusiast — with a background as a travel advisor for VisitScotland and 500+ itineraries and tours created for clients across the world.

I split my time between Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands. And although this site was once a hobby, over the years, it has become a full-time treasure hunt for Scotland’s best places to stay, visit, and eat.

I’ve travelled all over the Highlands, Skye, and the west coast — always in search of the best hidden views, design-forward hotels, and unforgettable detours. It’s that first-hand insight I bring into every itinerary I design.

Favourite things: muddy boots, flaky pastries, road trips, haggis bon bons, peaty single malts, brunch, and the perfect flat white!

About Trev, tour guide & mountain leader

When you book a private tour or guided adventure through Wander Somewhere, you’ll be travelling with Trev — our resident guide, driver, and mountain leader.

Trev has spent years leading travellers through the Highlands, Skye, and beyond.

As a qualified mountain leader and experienced driver-guide, he’s just as comfortable behind the wheel as he is guiding a scenic walk through a glen or pointing out a castle tucked into the mist.

What makes Trev special is his calm, welcoming style — no rigid scripts, no rush. He brings a deep knowledge of Scottish history and landscape, a love for the outdoors, and a knack for making guests feel right at home in unfamiliar places.

Favourite things: outdoor adventures, wild camping, Munro adventures, finding dogs to pat, and excellent coffee.

Slow destinations

Places we can wander slowly: quaint villages like coastal Portree and charming cities such as historic Edinburgh; whether well loved destinations or under-the-radar places, so long as there’s gorgeous surroundings we’re there.

What’s our travel style?

Boutique & memorable

Touches of luxury are our thing, but we love cosy and comfy even more; design-led stays that don’t mind walking shoes, showcase beautiful design, and bring a whole heap of magic and memories. For instance, these gorgeous Scottish getaways.

Adventures

Think achievable outdoor adventures and plenty time in nature. Like picturesque walks, forest trails, coastal hikes, countryside rambles, hilly wanders, and plenty of fresh air.

Our mission…

We believe the best way to experience Scotland is slowly — with time to savour, detour, and dig beneath the surface.

Our itineraries and tours are built around that belief. Each journey is carefully curated to reflect your interests and pace, with handpicked accommodation, memorable food stops, and immersive local experiences woven in along the way.

We support small businesses, recommend places we genuinely love, and take a thoughtful, design-forward approach to everything we plan.

Our carefully curated location guides and custom itineraries are designed to help you plan an exceptional trip to Scotland (or beyond), one that is full of wild landscapes, breathtaking scenery, and memory-making places.

Our Scotland Itineraries…

Our travel style influences every itinerary we create: a blend of historic towns, pretty villages, picturesque walks, off-the-beaten-track gems, and exciting road trips - oh, and great places to eat!

We believe adventure is good for the soul and that the best travel experiences are often found in unexpected places. So, while you’ll find mention of popular beauty spots and iconic road trips here, we also want to share the lesser-visited locales, wild roads to drive, and under-the-radar gems frequently missed.

When it comes to accommodation, we know where you stay is a major part of your getaway, and we only recommend places that are truly memorable. Think boutique, small stays with special finishing touches, unique interiors, full-on cosiness, and gorgeous views.

We’re big fans of taking a mindful approach to travel no matter the destination, whether it's an off-season getaway, a slow road trip, or avoiding areas affected by overtourism.

We hope you love travelling around our little country as much as we do, and our guides will help plan your next amazing trip.
