Luss & Trossachs National Park
Village: Luss & Loch Lomond
Your first stop is Luss, one of the loveliest places to experience Loch Lomond and a perfect introduction to the wider Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. This conservation village sits right on the water’s edge, with a row of 19th-century cottages (here) leading down to Luss Pier (here) and onto the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
The setting is classic Highland scenery: wooded hills rising gently behind the village and expansive, open views across the loch to Ben Lomond on the far shore.
Luss is compact, but it’s also beautiful, with short lochside and woodland walks, quiet spots to sit by the water, a small boutique shop, and a beautifully preserved parish church (here).
Parking: public car park (small fee)
Luss Distillery
Located in the village, an easy walk from the pier, the newly opened Luss Distillery is a modern, thoughtfully designed whisky experience and a worthwhile stop to explore the Loch Lomond Whisky Experience.
The distillery offers guided tours, but if your schedule today doesn’t allow for this, there’s also a relaxed tasting bar that provides a good introduction to its whisky-making process and Loch Lomond–inspired spirits. You’ll find this inside the retail space.
The retail shop itself stocks its core range, limited releases, and locally made gifts, making it ideal for a quick browse.
There’s also an excellent on-site café, making this a relaxed place to stop for coffee and light bites. Plus, take a moment to explore the free-to-enter visitor experience, which takes you on a journey through the landscape and flavours of the whisky (and gin) of Loch Lomond.

Loch Lomond Pier & Shoreline
A lovely spot for rather glorious views over Loch Lomond, the pier (where boat trips depart from) overlooks both the loch itself and the mountains beyond. This is where the lowlands meet the highlands - the Highland boundary line runs through Loch Lomond.
Follow the shoreline right (as you look at the loch) and slightly inland to the lovely parish church.

Loch Lomond Boat Trip
Take the opportunity to explore one of Scotland’s most beautiful lochs from the water with a relaxed Loch Lomond boat trip. We recommend the 90-minute Luss Circular, which departs from Luss and offers a leisurely cruise past wooded shores and the loch’s many small, often hidden islands.
It’s an easy, scenic way to experience the scale and beauty of Loch Lomond and its surrounding mountains, and the on-board commentary provides helpful context about the landscape and history along the way.
You can book tickets in advance, or remain flexible today and book at the pier.

Dinner at Luss (& Nearby)
Each eatery below links to its Google pin. Opening hours vary by season; check its pin for current hours, and be sure to book restaurant options in advance (or ask us to pre-book for you).
The Village Rest: Seasonal Scottish dishes and a very relaxed atmosphere.
Cameron House Grill: For a touch of relaxed luxury, the Cameron Grill is excellent (inside Cameron House).
The Inn on Loch Lomond: A bright modern eatery inside an old coaching inn, a short drive from Luss. A mix of small plates and crowd-pleasing menu favourites (see the menu).
Loch Lomond Arms: A country-chic hotel restaurant that’s just had an upgrade; dishes are estate-reared and seasonal (only open certain days).
Viewpoint: Woven Sounds, Falls of Falloch
From Luss, continue south along the A82, a beautifully scenic stretch of road that hugs the western shore of Loch Lomond. The drive offers regular viewpoints and lay-bys where you can pull over to take in the changing perspectives across the water, making it easy to stop and enjoy the loch at a relaxed pace as you travel on.
A unique viewpoint sitting over the edge of a cliff, which gives visitors to the tumbling 30ft Falls of Falloch. Follow the metal, caged walkway to the best overlook. Do note that the car park is quite rutted and potholed, so take your time entering.
