Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier: A Review of Perthshire’s Artisan Chocolate Shop

Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier

I can find endless reasons to stop at Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier whenever I’m travelling through Highland Perthshire. As someone who has road-tripped this part of Scotland more times than I can count, it’s become one of those places I automatically recommend to fellow food lovers - and somewhere I happily return to myself whenever I’m nearby.

Tucked just outside the tiny village of Grandtully, around 10 minutes from Aberfeldy, the chocolatier feels like a proper hidden gem despite its reputation.

From the outside, it’s understated and elegant, but inside you’ll find rows of beautifully crafted artisan chocolates, the most gorgeous chocolate gift boxes, bags of sweet treats, and large windows where you can watch the chocolatiers at work.

The Chocolate Cafe

But truthfully, the dedicated chocolate café is the real reason I keep coming back!

The chocolate menu here is enormous, and it turns the whole experience into something far more indulgent than just popping into a shop for a quick truffle. You can order individual chocolates, almost like a tasting experience, choosing from flavours such as silky sea salt caramel, rich dark chocolate ganache, raspberry velvet truffles, champagne creams, and whisky-infused pralines.

Pair that with one of their giant hot chocolates, and you’ve got one of the most unapologetically indulgent foodie stops in Scotland.

Over the years, Perthshire’s food scene has quietly become one of my favourites in the country - and places like this are exactly why.

Location

You’ll find Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier directly on the A827 in Grandtully, making it an easy detour if you’re exploring Aberfeldy, Dunkeld, Pitlochry, or driving deeper into Perthshire. There’s free on-site parking, and opening hours are usually daily from 10am to 5pm, though it’s always worth checking ahead of time.
