The Best Places for Brunch in Dundee
I can think of countless reasons to visit Dundee, one of my favourite cities for a Scottish getaway. But over the years, it’s the food scene that’s really kept me coming back, particularly its brilliant brunch culture.
Having visited for everything from cosy couples’ weekends to girls’ trips, I’ve spent plenty of time working my way through the city’s cafés, bakeries, and speciality coffee spots, slowly building up a list of go-to brunch favourites.
In recent years, Dundee has completely come into its own. Stylish, creative, and constantly evolving, the city now feels every bit as exciting as Scotland’s bigger destinations, with queues spilling out of popular cafés most weekends.
So, from flaky pastries and perfectly brewed flat whites to indulgent brunch plates worth planning your morning around, these are the best brunch spots in Dundee.

Höfn: best for Scandinavian-style coffee, pastries, and lighter brunch dishes.
Sook: best for classic brekkies, Med-inspired flavours & loaded sandwiches.

Where to Find Brunch in Dundee
Eastfield
Eastfield is one of Dundee’s standouts for a relaxed but exceptionally well-executed brunch, especially if you appreciate cafés that take their sourcing and seasonality seriously. The menu leans modern and seasonal, and the folks behind Eastfield take quality local produce seriously.
Expect a few creative touches that elevate familiar dishes without overcomplicating them.
You’ll find Eastfield on Perth Road, tucked among some of the city’s best independent cafés and shops, and it’s exactly the kind of place you could easily lose a slow morning in.
The interiors feel calm and understated, while the menu strikes that perfect balance between wholesome and indulgent. Expect beautifully plated brunch dishes, excellent coffee, and pastries that disappear quickly once the weekend crowds arrive. There are no bookings for the morning, and while there are often queues, from our experience, they tend to move quickly.

Stenecki
The breakfast menu at Stenecki manages to balance comforting favourites with slightly more inventive plates, making it one of the city’s most memorable brunch spots. Think fluffy pancakes, hearty shakshuka, vibrant seasonal bowls, and rich speciality coffee strong enough to justify a second cup.
What really makes Stenecki stand out, though, is its unique blend of Polish and Scottish influences, which gives the menu a personality that feels genuinely different from that of many other brunch cafés in Dundee.
On our last visit, we devoured perfectly poached eggs and black pudding on sourdough and can confirm they were every bit as good as they looked.
The atmosphere here is relaxed and welcoming, with leafy interiors, warm lighting, and plenty of seating, although our favourite spot is still the window counter for people-watching over Exchange Street. Its location near the waterfront also makes it an ideal brunch stop before visiting the V&A Dundee or wandering around the city centre boutiques.

The Bach
A long-time Dundee brunch favourite, The Bach has built a loyal following thanks to its generous portions, consistently good coffee, and laid-back atmosphere. Inspired by Australian and New Zealand-style café culture, the menu is mouthwateringly good - we normally visit for dinner, but the queues in the morning speak for themselves!
This is the sort of place where you’ll spot stacks of pancakes heading past your table alongside loaded breakfast rolls, smashed avocado, and beautifully presented eggs.
It’s lively without feeling rushed, the staff are friendly, and there’s usually a real energy to the place, especially on weekends when locals and visitors alike seem to descend for brunch. If you’re feeling organised, book a table in advance.

Höfn
We popped into Höfn for brunch on our last visit to Dundee and immediately understood why it’s become such a favourite among locals. Bright, modern, and effortlessly cool, the café feels distinctly Scandinavian in both its interiors and approach to food, with a menu centred around simple ingredients done really well.
The menu is small, but brilliant. You can expect beautifully baked pastries, excellent coffee, and lighter plates that still feel satisfying. My go-to order here is The Reuben, an open pastrami sandwich loaded with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and gherkins; super tasty and ideal for those veering towards the ‘lunch’ in ‘brunch’.

Sook Kitchen
Sook Kitchen offers a departure from many of Dundee’s traditional brunch cafés, emphasising bold flavours and dishes inspired by Mediterranean flavours to give the brunch experience a fresher, more adventurous vibe.
On the weekend, you’ll find a patient line of people outside, either holding out for a table (there are only a handful) or waiting to devour a takeaway order. If you can get in, it’s an ideal choice for a fun weekend brunch with friends before exploring more of the city.
The menu and deli counter rotates, but breakfasty options like filled breakfast rolls, organic honey with fresh fruit, and French toast with classic toppings are reasonably permanent fixtures.
The loaded sandwiches and salads are consistently delicious, with the famous brie and red onion toasty being especially irresistible - gooey, cheesy, and thoughtfully garnished with colourful salads layered with herbs, spices, and crispy toppings.

Pacamara
Pacamara is another Perth Road favourite that’s hard to ignore when talking about brunch in Dundee. Although we haven’t eaten here ourselves yet, we’ve passed by enough times to notice the constant weekend queues and chatter spilling out onto the street.
The menu leans more towards creative brunch dishes and reflects its contemporary attitude towards brunch and the glorious food you can expect to find here.
Organic eggs feature prominently, producing favourites such as huevos pacamara (fried eggs with salsa and refried beans), bubble & squeak benny (poached eggs on homemade b&s cakes), and my personal favourite, waffle, eggs, and bacon (a classic crowd pleaser).
It’s particularly popular for long brunch catch-ups and leisurely weekend mornings, and locals regularly mention it among the city’s standout brunch spots. Consider reserving a table if you'd like to brunch here, as it tends to be popular.
