Carbost Burn Waterfall, Isle of Skye | A Helpful Visitor’s Guide
An alternative to the island's more iconic waterfalls is Carbost Burn. A small but striking tumble of water that’s walkable from the village of Carbost, it’s most impressive after a downpour.
The easiest viewing point is from the bottom of the falls on the right. However, the best view is found by crossing the bridge at the back of the falls and scrambling down the short but steep, rough, muddy hillside on the left.
Where is Carbost Burn Waterfall?
Carbost Burn Waterfall sits just outside the village of Carbost on the west coast of Skye. It’s easy to combine with a visit to nearby attractions such as the Talisker Distillery or the coastal trails around Carbost.
From the village centre, the walk to the falls takes around 25 minutes along a combination of footpaths and minor roads. If you prefer to drive, there’s a small roadside spot by the bridge where you can park, but please take care not to block the road.
